Recipe # 3 Ginataang Kalabasa for Peace

May 31, 2011

Its been 5 days since we last traded thoughts. Enough silence, for this day I'll offer you my pride.
From the root of my family tree, please accept my heart-made recipe.

Ingredients:

1/4 Ground Pork
1/2 minced Onion
1/2 crushed Garlic
2 sliced Tomatoes
1 cup of Coconut Milk
1/2 diced Squash

5 pcs Lady's Fingers
2 sliced Eggplant
1 pile of String BEans
1/2 cup. Shrimp Paste

Procedure:

Saute the Garlic until golden brown. Add the Onion and Tomatoes.
Add the Ground Pork and Shrimp Paste. Cook until meat is tender.

Add 1 cup of Coconut Milk. Stir constantly and boil for 10 minutes or until the "Gata" has settled down.

Add the Vegetables on top. Remember the correct timing and arrangement.,
Lay the Squash first, next after 5 minutes scatter the String beans , then past 5 minutes add the Lady's Fingers and finally 5 minutes later drop the Eggplant.

Add small amounts of water until your satisfied with the salty taste.
Lower the heat, cover and let it simmer for 10 minutes.

Do not overcook or the vegetables will be mushy.
Serve while hot. Best with Fried Fish or Alimasag. (nyam nyam)
